There is a companion shot of two kittehs at the base of the tree attempting to climb it. Apparently only this one made it, while the other kitteh ran off to climb something else.
They are so cute.
I think the guys must be from the famous Muscle Beach where local bodybuilders hung out and did acrobatics to entertain the crowd. It was quite the party in its day.
