Hey, it's Palm Sunday!

Its everybody's favorite holiday Palm Sunday. I don't remember my religion classes from childhood enough to know what is being commemorated so let's just see some guys with palm trees instead, shall we?

Yes, those are very nice.

And since I couldn't find a picture of a kitten with a palm tree, here's an even better pic.

Look at the details in this photo - it is so dense with life. I love the hand overhead offering a treat, the sheers on the windows that are barely seen, the potted plants, and the boys playing stickball in the street outside. But the way the light is illuminating the kitteh is really special.

Playdate

Hey, it's a great day to get totgether with your peeps and have a playdate - yay!

Whether in a box or a pond, you'll have a great time.

I love these images. The cats framed by the box, against the rock background (on a mantle maybe?) are just too neat, and look like they are having a great time. And why not? They have a box. I love how all the guys are out of focus or not quite in shot. Lots of action, little detail, just glimpses. And like the box frames the cats, the shore frames the guys.

Butch

There is a cat named Harley that lives at the paint shop near to my work. He is such a butch little cat. A tuxedo, and so obviously a tom on first sight, he marches around the neighborhood keeping the one other kitteh (a young apricot male) in line and getting pets from passerby. This little kitteh in his buffalo stance reminds me of Harley.

This guy is butch too.
Butch is hot.

Sepiatone Shoutout

I stumbled across a gallery of work by Parke Harrison called The Architect's Brother' which I find hauntingly beautiful. I adore interesting surrealism and this is amazing. And all in sepiatone. Check it out:

Sunday - hanging with my peeps, part 2

Just relaxin' on a nice warm day. Feelin' fuzzy and cute.

I love the composition in both these photos. You could not have arranged those cats better if you tried, and what a shot of the guys. Love how they are at the bottom of the photo with the rest of the beach in the background.

Whazzit?

Look! What is that outside?!

Oh...

... just a boy in a grass skirt.

All aboard!

The S.S. Sepiatone is shoving off, and delivering a cargo of handsome young men from days gone by.

Shutting the blinds...

on the windows to the soul.

There's something about the eyes in these photos. You can't really see the eyes themselves at all, just how they are set within the expression. They almost seem to have the same expression, but what is it? Bemused condescension? Affectionate exasperation? All that and more? Who can say?

And what's with all the questions anyway? Ya can't just post a pretty picture? Well? Can'tcha?

Stillness

I know you'll like this one Wy - a white kitteh, just for you. Love the single black spot on his leg. Too charming by far. Click for a larger image.

I love the light in these two photos. The way the cat glows. The dark tones on the left where the busy work of day to day life waits, while the right is light and calm on the water where the boys are heading. Wonderful, complex lines run thru both making intricate angles. And yet they both exude a sense of stillness. They feel like Sunday.

Feel the love, baby...

Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea

Happy Valentines Day!

This doggie loves his kitteh. Not sure how the kitteh feels.... but lets just pretend he loves his doggie too.

Hangin' with my peeps...

.. on a Sunday afternoon.

Holy Toledo!

It's the ultimate Sepiatone photo - a cute kitteh and a cute guy in one shot! How can this ever be topped?

Blue skies...

Cats in stillness - guys in motion. Just the opposite of our house...

Each of these photos has its own set of lines and angles that make them visually appealing. I particularly like this last one.

The Pleasure of Patterns

Suggestive, no? A wonderful photo that tells all kinds of stories - and yet, almost an abstract.

Tell me you don't love that karpet, kitteh, and kozy kitten kastle. Krazy psychedelic vibes man.

New excursions in modern photography!

A sidetrip to the future today as we appreciate the wonders of color.

You can tell that little doggie is hating every minute of this. He's gonna try and eat that kitteh before long. Kitty, of course, is oblivious, but way too fast to be eaten by a fat little dog.

And a handsome young sailor on his sailboat, with a pretty smile that says "I'm not wearing pants". Is that an iceberg back there?

This post brought to you by Technicolor!

- topic here -

... or something similar, yet decidedly more amusing.

[insert witty comment/observation here]

[insert warm yet pithy sign-off here]

[siamese kitteh - le sigh]

What light thru yonder window breaks...

Mmm... the deliciousness of golden light pouring across the frame like warm honey. Sugar for the eyes.

Check out that perfect pawsitude, held *just so*.

Twosday

Two for the price of one today. More random pieces of the past that have caught my eye. Moments devoid of context that once held worlds of meaning for someone, now left to waste away here in this anonymous little corner of the intertubes.

I wonder what bits of the flotsam and jetsam of my life will wind up floating about some future online auction house for someone else to ponder over as if they were works of art. [cause they are]. Will digital history survive the way physical does? Will there be little pockets of information, devoid of context, that are just stumbled over as one cleans out old houses and offices? Will anyone think they are art? Would they be - or is that for the eye of the beholder to decide?

Elevation

Why not take it up a notch today?

Saturday, January 06, 2007

Ummmm.... okay.

Sometimes I just don't get it...

Inexplicable things go on in vintage photos. Take these for instance. Naked guys in the surf (not so weird) and one is playing a trumpet. Wha-huh? What's up with that?

And, why do you suppose that big black kitteh thinks he needs to be in on momma buffet with the little baby kittehs.

Well, whatevah is going down the pics are pretty neat visually. And as always - naked boys = good thing.

Hiding

I'm hiding... you can't see me.
